An Eager Worker... :)

What's the plan again?

Hard at Work...still!

That's not a shovel he's holding...what's up with that?

Just a few of the crew!

Need an excuse to get out from behind the desk?

Teva Mountain Games in Full Swing!!

without comments

I’ve been busier than expected shooting the games I’ve not had a chance to snap as many iPhone shots as I wanted. Tomorrow is another full day but I’m gonna carve out a few to make sure I put down the Canon long enough to snap some 2 megapixel delights.

Teva Mountain Games

without comments

I’m in Avon, CO now and getting set for the Teva Mountain Games at the end of the week. After getting settled, I took a stroll today over to the city market and picked up some essentials for the week and decided to head over to the local bike shop and check it out. I met a nice woman who’s husband works for the VVF and talked a bit about the games and the happenings. The more we talked, the more excited I get. It’s going to be a busy week with the games, concerts, parties and more! I’ll be photographing everything from trail running to bouldering and the Big Air dog competition. Check back here for happenings over the week.

From the TevaMountainGames.com site and the Vail Valley Foundation (VVF.org) – A bit more about the games:

The country’s largest celebration of mountain sport, soul and culture returns once again when The Teva Mountain Games returns to Vail, June 4-7, 2009.

Professional and amateur outdoor adventure athletes from the Vail Valley and around the world will converge upon the mountains and rivers of Vail to compete in seven sports and 21 disciplines including: x-country, freeride, slopestyle and road cycling, freestyle, 8-Ball, sprint and extreme kayaking, raft paddlecross, World Cup bouldering, as well as trail and road running, and the GNC Ultimate Mountain Challenge.

In addition to the athletic events, the Teva Mountain Games will include a mountain photography competition, adventure film school, film festival ,an interactive exhibition and demo area, live music, and mountain lifestyle parties.

The Teva Mountain Games are a Project of the Vail Valley Foundation.

Nederland or Ciciley from Northern Exposure?

without comments

So we arrived at our first mountain destination and I have to say pulling into Nederland, CO really reminded me of Ciciley the small Alaskan town on the hit TV show years ago – Northern Exposure.

It’s a nice small town with several watering holes and restaurants.

I grabbed a few frames with the trusty iPhone and hoped to upload on the spot but alas – I am on a mountain! No AT&T towers here. Duh! So here I sit in the Best Western bringing you my clicks via trusty WiFi…

Off to Colorado

without comments

Well, I’m off on my trek out to Colorado for the month of June. I’ll be shooting almost every day, and as such, this provides me an opportunity to take full advantage of the iPhone and my blog.

Ill be posting a photo every day I get the chance, either from a location, on set or simply from our “adventures” along the way.

After getting things together for the 20+ hr drive and photo shoots ahead for this month, I quickly realized even a Suburban has space limitations. I pulled together this hitch carry box system to store and tote my gear. Added bonuses include being both water and bear proof ;)

Sundays with Rob…

without comments

Ok so the title is kinda corny…

I worked today with Rob Haggart on rebuilding and tooling out my new site.  I’ll be introducing some new books and lots of new work that has not yet been released on my site yet.

All in due time.

Anyhow on to working with Rob.  He’s a really down to earth guy and has helped me develop some insight and clarity on narrowing down what it is that I do (want to do).  I’ll share more with you as the new site launches, but I wanted to leave you with a thought today….

Figure out what you want to do, then do it.  Sounds simple enough right.  But if you think about it, half of the time we’re making lists…  More on that in the following post.

Enjoy the new site as it goes live and don’t hesitate to drop me feedback.  It’s always welcome.

Cheers, Rick
