Experimentation…
I love experimenting. There’s nothing more that I love than just going out and trying new things. Yesterday that included not only revisiting a childhood passtime of skateboarding…but as you might imagine…creating some imagery from the experience.
What follows below is a series of rough shots and cuts of my son and his buddy as they showed daddy up! Well at least that’s what I wanted them to think
Enjoy!

Bud Light Lime Pro Kayak Freestyle presented by First Ascent at the 2010 Teva Mountain Games
Our team travelled out to Vail Colorado to cover this year’s Teva Mountain Games for the Vail Valley Foundation. A great set of events that co-mingle outdoor lifestyle and sport into one massive weekend of awesomeness.
A few of our favorites from the Bud Light Lime Pro Kayak Freestyle presented by First Ascent at the 2010 Teva Mountain Games.
Behind the scenes | Sailing & Active Lifestyle
We wrapped up a shoot in the USVI and wanted to share some of the out-takes and behind the scenes footage.
>
We spent the first several days scouting for locations for the three shoots we had planned while there. This particular location was in St. John, Great Cruz Bay. The boat was tethered up and we started shooting in the harbor with the models getting ready to board the dinghies. Moved out to the boat (Soma, which is touted as the fasted charter catamaran in the world) and captured more images of Meredith and Tony prepping and otherwise just hanging out on the cat.
You can see many of the shots we captured in the video and several are now featured in my portfolio here.
Equipment and tools used for the shots featured:
1) Location: St. John USVI – Great Cruz Bay
2) Fantastic Talent: Tony and Meredith
3) Cameras: Canon 1Ds Mark III & 5D Mark II
4) Lenses: 35mm L, 24-70mm L, 70-200mm L 2.8, 50mm 2.8
5) Lighting Equipment: Large Yellow Orb in the Sky
5) Light Modifiers: Clouds, California Sunbounces
(Sunbounce Micro Mini & Sunbounce Pro)
6) Not to forget awesome production manager Julie and creative director Lizzy!

Tide Stain Release
Just got my hands on the Package Design Magazine that my features my photo on the cover. The photo, Procter & Gamble’s Global Stain Release lineup.
P&G hired me to photograph their lineup of Ariel, Dash and Tide Stain Release line this winter. Several of the photos were recently featured on the cover and in the industry magazine for packaging professionals, Package Design.
In a prior life, I was a product and package designer for Swiffer, Febreeze and Downy, so it was neat to reconnect with that industry by doing the work I love and have the photographs also used in a publication I used to read…ok look at the pictures in!
Favorite child shot…
While I had to keep this shoot under wraps until now, I wanted to share with you a favorite of mine from a shoot we did late last fall.
While I don’t shoot a lot of children, this shoot had an array of ten different child models in two days. What a whirlwind but I had a ball. One thing I love is to have lots of action on set…they certainly kept me and the crew movin!
I almost lost it when this kiddo was being fed. The facial expressions were absolutely priceless…almost like a cartoon drawing!

This little guy had no fear throwing some ammo at the lens and we rolled with his whim and captured this. Pure child emotion, raw and colorful!
Behind the scenes on a recent campaign shoot…

While we were digging our way through almost two feet of snow prior to a recent campaign shoot, I took the opportunity to grab some behind the scenes shots of one of our models.
Angela did a great job at playing the part of “model having fun” while I clicked away on the 1DsMKIII while the set was being prepped.
Moral…ALWAYS be looking for a creative angle, ALWAYS be open to new perspective and more than all of this ALWAYS BE SHOOTING! Before, after, and between campaigns or shoots. Keep a sharp edge on your creative skills.
